New Carnival Fun!!

There has just been an update to FarmVille, and we can't get into the game. However, people are posting reports of Storage! They also say that Barns and Tool Sheds now hold items. They are also reporting the release of more Country Fair Items to go with the float that was released in the latest mystery box.

One recent update that is confirmed is that you can now play FarmVille straight from FarmVille's website at www.farmville.com - this seems more responsive and faster than having the Flash game load on Facebook.

Check back for updates as we get them! We are still definitely in the reporting stage of this.
Looks like its all true! Storage is finally here. Here are the details:

Storage

  • You can store 6 items in red barn, 20 in all other barns, 2 in the regular tool shed and 15 in the pink tool shed.
  • The existing Tool Sheds and Barns hold 8 items each.

There is definitely a chance that Storage will be buggy for a while, so use caution when adding items into storage.

Big thanks to Takayoshi S. for compiling and writing up this impressive guide. Many thanks to all other who helped and contributed to this post.

This is a compilation of earlier transcripts sent to other Farmville Users. I just don't have time to answer every little question so I wanted to create something to refer to. Feel free to use and share. Leave comments with suggestions or criticism; if I can confirm it myself, I'll update with it. I can't take credit for all or any of this information.

IMPORTANT: You cannot keep any of the eggs you post! All the brown chickens in the world cannot earn you a black chicken unless you check your feed and select the "Hatch an Egg!" from a friend. I've seen way too many people trying so hard to make their own chickens, not realizing that it is impossible.

"How do you post eggs? Any tips?"

Chickens CAN be harvested more than once a day, PROVIDED you have a chicken on hand that is already at 100%. You will need to EMPTY your coop. Take a chicken that is already at 100% (with the pink arrow) and place it in the coop. This will automatically make the coop harvest-able. Try it.

This is the key point: you can place any chicken of any percentage (even zero) into the coop and it can also be harvested with the first chicken you put in. You'll get all the coins you'd expect BUT also the eggs of that chicken.

In application, you want to have AS MANY chickens as you can on your farm, in your possession. This will allow more chickens to mature to 100%, and thus will be the limiting factor on the number of attempts you have. You place only one of the chickens at 100% into the coop, then AFTERWORDS place the chickens of the egg grade you desire. More of that one type of chicken ensures that you get a better chance of that type laying an egg.

Note: There is still debate whether the total quantity of chickens in the coop allows you to drop more eggs. In my experience I have used as little as 1 or 2 chickens to produce eggs back-to-back. The FV forums are also raging with discussions on this topic with adherents to both camps -- increasing the number of chickens to raise egg drop probability vs. decreasing the number of chickens to increase harvest attempts. I personally took a middle ground and use about 10 chickens, although partly out of necessity.

Example: I place a white chicken at 100% into an empty coop. I add 3 Gold Chickens and 6 Black Chickens. In total, I would have 10 chickens. I would not put in more Brown or White Chicken in for the sake of simply packing the coop up to 20 because I might want to lower the chance of getting an "undesirable" chicken.

The following is just speculation and has only been verified empirically by me. The percentage types of eggs given per drop in this case would be: 30% for Gold, 60% for Black, 10% for White.

HOWEVER, it is important to note that the chance that the coop will lay any egg is INDEPENDENT of all this. I might have to try harvesting 15-20 times before I expect any results. There is no guarantee of an egg drop.

In other words, every time you click Harvest, the computer first checks if there will be an egg drop at all this has a 10% chance. Then calculates which egg it will be (Gold is only 30%). The probability of getting a Gold Egg across harvest attempts is: 10% x 30% = 3%. The only thing you can do to improve this score definitely, as far as we know, is to raise the ratio of Gold Chickens vs. White / Brown / Black.

"Leave your eggs in your Gift Box! Up to 8 people can get an egg if you wait for about 1 day before placing your hatched egg on your farm. So don't be greedy peoplezz!!!"

    Not eggs-actly... (sorry, had to!)

This is wrong on 2 counts:

#1: The eggs are more like ribbon bonuses and flower bouquets on your feed: they are limited but definite. In fact, even the load screens are not the same as the "adopted animals". Up to 5 people can hatch an egg per post and this has been tested.

#2: Leaving gifts so that 8 people or more can "adopted" them is a myth. That is the official statement by Zynga found here: http://forums.zynga.com/showpost.php?p=2766494&postcount=115 and has been tested and proven false by many players. But it won't hurt much to stock pile them in your gift box. I find it more important to improve workflow by placing them all at the same time, versus the miniscule amount of coins you would accrue in the meantime.

Just a minor update to let everyone know about a new change to the website. I have added a reCAPTCHA plugin to the site, so when you comment, register, or send a message via the contact form you will have to type in two words correctly. I know everyone is annoyed by these, but because I do not require email verification for registration and comments this is the next logical step to prevent spam.

If you click the Login link up top and register you will not have to fill out the reCAPTCHA's for commenting and sending messages when you are logged in to your account. So feel free to register. :>>

If you would like to test this new feature for me or just because you are interested go ahead and leave a comment on this post and let me know if it is working. If it isn't working you obviously will not be able to leave a comment and in that case contact me by email atjakets@gmail.com (email address is encoded so it cannot be picked up by bots/spiders) and let me know ASAP! Thank you.

Hey everyone, I get to post an awesome golden egg I found on my feed today. I am also happy to confirm the items from earlier postings. I received a Hot Tub, Tree Swing and someone got a Gold Gnome, so I believe they are correct details for items.

Served up around 3 golds tonight, the GF did well also and served up around 4! :>>

    Farmville Calculator for PocketPC

If you have a Windows Mobile Pocket hum.. Windows Phone you might find this application fromTWOLF very handy: the Farmville Calculator.

imageIt calculates the best crop for you to plant, by simply:
    - Write down the number of hours or days of your next visit.
    - It then shows you the best 3 crops for you to plant.
    - When you press the one you choose, it asks you for you plantation size.
    - It then calculates how much you are going to receive if you plant the hole field minus the plowing costs.

The data.txt on the side, helps for future updates, it uses this simple rule:
    - Crops are separated by hours or days to harvest.
    - The first value on the arrays is the name of the crop, then the market cost, then the sell price and finally the time it takes to grow.

    - And finally the cost it takes to plow, in case they ever change it.

    Needs Flash 7 to run!
Press ENTER anytime on the keypad to exit the app.

He is also on XDA if you want to check with him for updates on the calculator for the new crops.
